Terms of Service

Last updated: August 13, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") describe the rules and expectations that apply when you use lorepixel.com or place an order with LorePixel ("LorePixel," "we," "us," or "our"). We've written them to be as clear as we can make them, because a good relationship with our customers starts with everyone understanding what to expect. If something here doesn't make sense, email us at hello@lorepixel.com and we'll gladly explain.

1. Acceptance of terms

By using LorePixel's website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund Policy. If you don't agree with any part of these documents, please don't use our service.

2. About LorePixel

LorePixel creates personalized, browser-based pixel-art games built from the photos and story details our customers share with us, combining our team's creative and technical work with AI-assisted tools (see Section 7, "AI-assisted production"). Every project is custom-made for the person who ordered it - we don't sell pre-built templates, and no two games are produced the same way.

3. Eligibility

To place an order, you must be legally able to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you upload a photo of someone other than yourself, you should have that person's permission to share it with us where appropriate, and you're responsible for that permission - we generally have no way of verifying it ourselves.

4. Orders

An order generally begins once payment has been successfully processed, or, for custom-quoted packages, once you've accepted a quote. From there, production typically follows our order queue and the timeline associated with your selected package. Any delivery window we share is an estimate, not a fixed promise - occasionally, delays happen due to order volume, project complexity, or circumstances outside our control, and we'll do our best to keep you informed if that occurs.

5. Customer responsibilities

When you place an order, you agree that:

• the information you provide us is accurate to the best of your knowledge
• the photos you upload belong to you, or you have permission to use and share them with us
• your uploaded content does not infringe someone else's copyright or other intellectual property rights
• your uploaded content is not illegal, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful
• your uploaded content does not violate another person's privacy rights

We may decline, pause, or cancel an order involving content that reasonably appears to violate the above - see "Termination" below.

6. License to customer content

You retain ownership of the photos and story content you upload to LorePixel. By uploading that content, you grant LorePixel a limited, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, and adapt it solely for the purposes of producing the game you purchased, performing quality review, providing customer support related to your order, and delivering your finished game to you. This license doesn't transfer any broader ownership of your content to us, and we don't use it beyond what's reasonably needed to fulfill your order (see our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle uploaded content generally).

7. AI-assisted production

You understand and agree that LorePixel may use artificial intelligence, machine-learning systems, image-generation and image-processing tools, and other software tools as part of producing your personalized game, in combination with creative and technical work performed by our team. AI is one component of our production workflow, not a replacement for it - every order is planned, directed, and reviewed by a person on our team before it's delivered to you.

Photos and story content you submit may be transmitted to and processed by third-party service providers, including AI service providers, when reasonably necessary to help produce your game - for example, using a submitted photo as a visual reference for generated artwork, or using story details to help draft dialogue or narrative elements. See our Privacy Policy, "Artificial Intelligence & Automated Tools," for more detail on how this works and which providers are currently involved.

Because generative and AI-assisted tools produce creative interpretations rather than exact copies, you should expect your finished game - including character art, scenes, and dialogue - to be a creative, stylized interpretation of the photos and story details you provide, rather than a mathematically exact or photorealistic reproduction of your submitted photographs. Our team reviews AI-assisted output as part of production, and this section is not a basis for intentionally low-quality or careless work - but some creative variation from your source material is a normal and expected part of how LorePixel games are made.

8. Intellectual property

LorePixel owns the LorePixel website, our source code and software, our game engine and templates, our branding and logos, and the original artwork and game assets we create - except for the personal photos and story details you provide, which remain yours as described above. Purchasing a game gives you a personal license to play, enjoy, and share your finished game; it does not transfer ownership of LorePixel's underlying software, engine, or brand assets to you.

9. Pricing and payment

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. LorePixel does not receive or store your full card number or other complete payment credentials - see our Privacy Policy for details. Prices shown on our site may change over time for future orders, but if you've already paid for an order, the price you agreed to at checkout is the price that applies to that order regardless of later pricing changes.

10. Revisions

Each package includes a reasonable number of revision rounds, shown at checkout, intended to help refine your game within the scope of the story you originally submitted. Revision requests that stay connected to your original story and submitted details are generally what's included; a request that amounts to a substantially different concept, setting, or story may be treated as additional work and could require an extra charge or a new order, which we'll always discuss with you first.

11. Delivery

Delivery windows shared at checkout or in your confirmation email are estimates. Production timing can be affected by factors like current order volume, the complexity of your particular story, technical issues, holidays, or other unforeseen circumstances. We'll make reasonable efforts to keep you updated on your order's progress through status emails and the order-tracking page described below.

12. Hosting period

Once finished, your game is hosted privately at a unique link for the advertised hosting period - currently 7 days from launch, unless we've stated otherwise for your order. You're responsible for accessing and enjoying your game, and sharing it with anyone you'd like, during that window. Hosting extensions may be available separately - contact us before your hosting period ends if you'd like one. After the hosting period, we may remove the hosted files; we don't offer permanent hosting as part of a standard order.

13. Order tracking

You can check your order's general production status anytime using your Order Number on our order-tracking page. Tracking intentionally shows limited, non-sensitive information - it's designed to protect your privacy, not to replace status update emails.

14. Cancellations and refunds

Our full Refund Policy explains cancellations and refunds in detail, and this section is meant to be consistent with it, not to override it. In short: because every LorePixel game is custom-produced for your specific order, once meaningful production work has begun, orders are generally not eligible for a refund. If something's gone wrong with your order, reach out - we'd rather work with you toward a fair resolution than leave you unhappy.

15. Service availability

We work to keep LorePixel's website and order-tracking tools reliably available. That said, maintenance, software updates, hosting provider outages, third-party service failures, or general internet issues may occasionally affect availability. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to our website or tools at all times.

16. Third-party services

LorePixel relies on trusted third-party providers to operate, including Stripe for payment processing, Resend for order-related email delivery, OpenAI for AI-assisted production tools (see Section 7, "AI-assisted production," and our Privacy Policy), and our hosting provider(s) for running the website and storing order data. Each of these providers operates under its own terms of service and privacy practices, which are separate from ours.

17. Disclaimer

LorePixel's website and services are provided on an "as available" and "as is" basis, to the extent permitted by applicable law. We don't promise that our service will be perfectly functional, completely free of bugs, permanently available, or entirely error-free, though we do work to fix issues we become aware of.

18. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LorePixel will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of our service. Where legally enforceable, LorePixel's total liability to you for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you actually paid for that order. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any rights you may have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived or limited by agreement.

19. Indemnification

If you upload content that infringes someone else's rights or is otherwise unlawful, and LorePixel faces a claim, loss, or expense as a result, you agree - to the extent permitted by applicable law - to be responsible for reasonable costs LorePixel incurs because of that content. We'll always let you know if something like this comes up rather than acting unilaterally.

20. Termination

We may refuse, pause, or cancel an order or access to our service in cases involving suspected fraud, illegal content, copyright infringement, abusive behavior toward our team, payment fraud, or threats toward LorePixel staff. If a refund applies in a situation like this, it will be handled according to our Refund Policy.

21. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

22. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time as our service or applicable laws change. The most current version will always be posted on this page, along with an updated "Last updated" date. Continuing to use LorePixel after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
